Automated Testing for AI Systems

As AI transitions from experimental projects into mission-critical applications across modern industries, traditional software testing techniques are proving inadequate for probabilistic machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI systems. This book addresses this reliability gap by introducing AI TestOps—a specialized discipline designed to eliminate AI Quality Debt and build scalable AI solutions.

This book introduces AI TestOps, a practical engineering discipline for testing AI systems throughout their lifecycle. It explains how to validate data, features, models, behaviors, fairness, explainability, and guardrails using repeatable engineering practices. Readers will learn practical frameworks such as the Feature to Representation Integrity Model (FRIM), the Behavior Validation Loop (BVL), continuous testing and training (CTT), and Auto-Human-in-the-Loop (Auto-HITL), along with guidance on integrating testing into modern AI delivery pipelines using widely adopted open-source tools.

By the end of this book, readers will have a structured approach for designing, validating, deploying, and operating trustworthy AI systems. More importantly, they will understand how to build testing into AI engineering from day one, helping organizations deliver AI solutions that remain reliable as they evolve.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
● Build automated testing pipelines for ML, LLM, and agentic AI.
● Detect behavioral drift using continuous evaluation techniques.
